Philosophy and Approach
Lesley believes in providing a compassionate and supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore their challenges and work towards personal growth. With a deep understanding of the courage it takes to begin therapy, Lesley draws from her own therapeutic journey to offer a caring, empathetic presence. She strives to help clients cultivate self-compassion, enhance resilience, and improve their overall well-being. Lesley’s therapeutic style is eclectic and humanistic, integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet each client’s unique needs. Her approach is engaging, interactive, and focused on building a trusting, collaborative relationship.
Areas of Expertise
Lesley is dedicated to supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, complex trauma, and the emotional challenges of both acute and chronic illness. With extensive experience in healthcare settings, she is particularly passionate about helping healthcare professionals and caregivers cope with burnout, compassion fatigue, and the emotional demands of their roles. Lesley has a deep interest in guiding clients through the intricacies of trauma recovery and addressing the emotional toll of personal and professional stressors. Her specialized training in attachment disorders informs her work with clients seeking emotional and relational healing. Additionally, having spent years working at the Stollery/U of A Hospital, Lesley has a strong focus on supporting healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, and occupational therapists.
Creating Meaningful Change
Lesley is committed to helping clients create lasting and meaningful change in their lives. By fostering a compassionate, non-judgmental space, she encourages individuals to explore their personal narratives and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior. Lesley utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. She is also trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and has completed specialized training in Death, Grief, and Mourning: Essential Caregiving Principles and Practices. She believes that healing is a dynamic, ongoing process, and her goal is to empower clients to become active participants in their own growth and transformation.
