Philosophy and Approach
Heather’s therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centred and strengths-based principles. She focuses on fostering a supportive and empathetic space where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered, while honoring their unique strengths, experiences and potential. At the heart of her philosophy is the belief that everyone has the inner resources necessary to create meaningful change in their lives.
Heather collaborates closely with each client to establish a strong therapeutic relationship founded on trust and respect. Her approach is adaptable and customized to each individual, acknowledging that everyone’s path is unique. By blending a person-centred approach with a strength-based perspective, Heather tailors each session to meet the specific needs of the client, ensuring personalized and effective treatment.

With more than a decade of experience in the Correctional Services field, Heather offers a unique combination of clinical expertise and practical insight in her therapeutic approach. She is committed to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, anger, stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, trauma, and negative thought patterns. Her background in Correctional Services has also equipped her with a deep understanding of the specific stressors and demands of high-pressure work environments. Having worked closely with individuals in crisis-driven settings, Heather recognizes the emotional and psychological challenges that come with first responder roles.
Creating Meaningful Change
Heather is passionate about supporting adults in their personal journey towards change. Dedicated to helping individuals navigate life challenges, Heather encourages people to foster self-awareness, and resiliency. Using various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Heather tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each client. By combining evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, person-centered perspective, she empowers people to lead more fulfilling lives and find balance in the face of life’s challenges.
Education and Credentials
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology with a Concentration in Psychology from Carleton University, and a Master of Counselling Psychology Degree from Yorkville University. She is a Registered Provisional Psychologist, in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.
