Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone

Philosophy and Approach

Heather’s therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centred and strengths-based principles. She focuses on fostering a supportive, empathetic space where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered, while honoring their unique strengths, experiences, and potential. At the heart of her philosophy is the belief that everyone has the inner resources necessary to create meaningful change in their lives.

Heather collaborates closely with each client to establish a strong therapeutic relationship founded on trust and respect. Her approach is adaptable and customized to each individual, acknowledging that everyone’s path is unique. By blending person-centred and strengths-based perspectives with evidence-based practices, she tailors each session to meet the specific needs of each client, ensuring personalized and effective treatment.

Heather has also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which she incorporates into her work when appropriate to support clients in processing distress and enhancing emotional regulation. EMDR serves as an additional therapeutic tool that complements her holistic, client-focused practice.

Areas of Expertise

With more than a decade of experience in the Correctional Services field, Heather offers a unique combination of clinical expertise and real-world insight. She is committed to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, anger, stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, trauma, and negative thought patterns.

Her work in crisis-driven environments has equipped her with a deep understanding of the stressors and emotional demands faced by individuals in high-pressure roles, including first responders. Heather also brings specialized crisis-intervention training, including Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), which enhances her ability to support clients experiencing acute distress or critical incidents.

Creating Meaningful Change

Heather is passionate about supporting adults in their personal journey toward growth and healing. She is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges by fostering self-awareness, strengthening resilience, and promoting meaningful, sustainable change.

She draws from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR-informed strategies. By integrating these evidence-based approaches with warmth and compassion, Heather empowers clients to lead more fulfilling lives and find balance in the face of adversity.
